The Elite High School Tournament marks the commencement of every team's upcoming season. The league consists of returning players from area High Schools who are coached by experienced coaches from Eastern Massachusetts as well as from nearby colleges. Most teams include returning varsity players, as well as a few of each program's younger players, who will have an opportunity to play lacrosse at a varsity level several months prior to the season. The Elite High School Tournament competes during the last week of July, so players who attended individual camps earlier in the summer will have an opportunity to hone their skills. Because most of the staff coach local teams, athletes can receive feedback from coaches who watched them play during the previous season. The Elite High School Tournament offers teams the opportunity to gauge their strengths and determine points to work on for the upcoming season. Traditionally, teams that have performed well during the Elite Tournament have carried that momentum through the season and into a successful postseason.
